Lorraine Kelly left viewers cringing as she joked that playing herself on Mrs Brown’s Boys was a “big stretch”.
Earlier this week it was revealed that the host had escaped a £1.2m tax bill after claiming she is playing a version of herself on TV.
Lorraine, 59, argued that she’s a “theatrical artist”, telling the first-tier tribunal that she “acted every day as a version of herself.”
This led to relentless mocking online and she didn’t help matters today on her programme, which may have been filmed before the tax ruling broke, after joking about her acting.
After airing a clip of Teri Hatcher speaking to Mrs Brown, Lorraine spoke about her own experience on the show.
Asked what it was like, he said: “It was a blast, I laughed my head off. I’m playing myself – big stretch – as a hotel guest.
“We spent the whole afternoon just howling with laughter. it’s hilarious. I love them all.”
And viewers cringed at the ill-timed comment.
